Keeping Balance In Our Life Is Important

"Awake, my sons; put on the armor of righteousness. Shake off the chains with which ye are bound, and come forth out of obscurity and arise from the dust" (2 Nephi 1:23)."
On August 10, 1628, the "Vasa" set sail on it maiden voyage. The "Vasa" was the premier warship for Sweden's Navy. It took 1,000 oaks to contruct the hull. The masts were more than fifty meters high; on-board were sixty-four large guns and hundreds of sculptures.

The "Vasa" was the most expensive and richly ornamented naval vessel built in Sweden at this time. When the "Vasa" sailed forth on her maiden voyage, Stockholmers stood along the shore to wish her good luck. They were eyewitnesses to the disaster.

The ship capsized in the Stockholmers harbor. Why did it sink? A small gust of wind-just a breeze-caused it to capsize. The ship was top heavy. To counter-balance a ship in those days, rocks wer placed in the bottom to offset the masts and force of the wind. In the 1600s it was difficult to calculate the amount of weight needed to balance a ship, and most ships were designed according to what had been learned in the design of their predecessors. Since the "Vasa" was much larger than other vessels that had been built, the measurements and counter-balance methods used in previous ships did not work.

Between four and five o'clock, the great new warship "Vasa" keeled over and sank. A few short lines about a major disaster were written... on August 10, 1628: "For a magnificent ship that sank on her very first voyage, this could have been the end. Instead, it was the beginning of an adventure that is still in progress. The "Vasa" was found almost intact, standing on the seabed, after three centuries. The ship was salvaged and is now one of the foremost tourist attraction in the world" (The Vasa Catalogue, Vasa, 1-3).
When we are not balanced with our life, we too can capsize. It takes a lot of effort to get back to the surface, but it can be done. Through the Atonement of Christ, we can be rescued. Much like the "Vasa," we still have great work to do. As we learn and do the works of righteousness, we can be salvaged, begain a new and productive stage of life, and be blessed wih peace.
"But learn that he who doeth the works of righteousness shall receive his rreward, even peace in this world, and eternal life in the world to come" (D&C 59:23).

Haiti Relief With French Bread

On January 16th, 2010, My wife Jen and here Sister Tami started a little project over a small phone call. They both survived the 1989 California earthquake just as big as Haiti. They had the resources to survive it. They both wanted to help the people of Haiti by making their Family Famous French Bread.
Jen and Tami decided to tell all of their friends, that they were making french bread and selling each loaf for a minimum of $5.00. Together both of them made over 126 loaves of French bread from all the donations that they were given was over $600.00 all the money was given to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Humanitarian aid Haiti Relief Fund.
Our Local newspaper challenged my wife to sell more of the Family Famous French Bread this coming Thursday, Friday and Saturday (Jan 21, 22, and 23).
So again, Jen is baking the Family Famous French Bread for a minimum donation of 5$/loaf. If you don't live locally, you can mail a check and we will add it with our donation. How much more can we raise with three days of baking? Please let your friends and family know, and let me know if you would like to order!

Once in Blue Moon!

So after studying a little about the moon phases; I thought I give this little message out to all you Mom's & Dad's out there!!

So when Children would ask for maybe something you can't afford/or wont buy them we would say back them "Once in a Blue Moon. Here is what I studied:

"The saying "once in a blue moon" has nothing to do with color. Instead it refers to the relatively rare occurrence of what is called a "blue moon". (However, an actual blue-colored moon could occur from atmosheric effects such as a big forest fire on Earth causing a lot of haze. this has happened in the past!)

The definition of a Blue Moon has changed over the years. However, the commonly accepted definition of a Blue Moon is simple: it is a full moon that rises twice in on month. Due to our calendar days, sometimes the days of the month are less than the cycle of the moon, which is 29.5 days. This can cause the moon to rise twice in one month, near the first and the last days of the same month. It is said that blue moons happen every 33 month or about every 3 years.

SO every 33 months or about 3 years I should gotten something when my parents said that to me. So I'm 30 now. that is a lot of toys, money, and trips they owe me!! I'm holding that to them now!!! I love science!!!

Oh I better put this in to help you if ever slip the words "Blue Moon"

911 where's your Emergency?

So a few weeks ago a bunch of Juvenal's hacked off the boat docks at Beaver Dick Park and floated it down the river 3 miles. The Work Crew had to rescue the boat docks. So Our little adventure started 9 in the morning Wednesday Sept 9, 2009. So here I am riding a horse named "Angle" this was my first time ever riding so believe me I was pretty nerves riding.. The horse was very good and I never got bucked off!!

It took most of the day walking the river trying to find the boat docks.

The guys got go swimming for the docks they love it!!

So here is the part about the whole boat docks. the crew and I could not tow the dock up river so we thought it would be best to float it down river to another boat ramp. Here's is a little taste of the trip.. we seen the Tetons and a moose and someones name carved in the rock..

The Workers had a lot of fun... paddle the docks down trying not to hit logs and broken trees.. pushing the docks out of the low parts of the river.

We were doing a quick run in paddling before the North and South Fork of the snake river meet up!!
I'm the Caption of the Dock!! Do what I say!!
Well here is were the 911 Where's your emergency comes in... When the two river meet were had our life vest on and were paddling like crazy... we had passed a few fly fisher men floating the boat down... we seen one of them on his cell phone... We talk about him calling the cops on us!!!
Well we got to the boat ramp safe and sound. When we strapped down the docks, Jefferson County Sheriff Deputy was waiting for us!! The guy we seen on cell phone did in fact called it in. The call came in like this.. "911 Where's your emergency? Fisherman "Yes I'm fishing the South Fork river about about a mile from the Menan Boat ramp and there's a bunch of Juveniles floating a boat docks down the river and theirs no adults" 911: How many kids do you see? Fisherman: "7" 4 of them are wearing orange shirts, the other 3 are gray and blue, can they float a boat ramp down the river?" 911: "No" I'll send an officer down to the river to meet them.
I Laugh so hard when the Deputy told me what dispatch told him. The Fisherman came up to me and said" I thought I had seen it all." He was very glad it wasn't a bunch of juveniles floating the boat dock down the river and that we are rescuing them and taking them back to Beaver Dick Park.

Hard to Swallow

So.... A few thurday ago after I gotten off work drove down to Idaho Falls to see a E.N.T. (Ear Noise Throat) doc. From January to now I've had sinus infections and sore throats. Finalay what pushed me to see a E.N.T. was this white spot on a tonsil.

Now let me explain here about this tonsil yes just one. When I was 18 months, I had my tonsils and adenoids removed just like both Kennedy and Ellis. Well for me one of them grew back!!

Yes a tonsil grew back!1 Sick hu!

So the monday before the thursday; while brushing my teeth, I seem this spot on my tonsil that "grew back", it was a little tender. So, I thought I better asked the doc that worked at the jail. I was thinking it was strep. The Jail doc said: the white spot your seening must be a virus or bacteria, it will pass , so drink plenty of fluids. (not a smart move)

Well tuesday and even Wesneday the spot grew bigger and bigger, to the point that it hurt to swallow, but not enough to be a complete sore throat. On top of that I wasn't really feeling that wee with my allerges.

So, Jen made an appointment for me to see the E.N.T. While I was in the E.N.T. Office he took this really cool tool , stuck it into oneside of the nose then the other. All was said by the Doc: " Wow you really got a problem", he hasn't evven seen my throat yet.

My sinuses were really inflamed and barley gooten the tool up my nose. The Doc hooked the tool up to a camera and showed me what my sinuses looked like. (was like That's my brain) I had know clue what I was looking at just magnified booger!!

The doc next commit was, Doc: "we can fix that by doing durgery on your sinuses.

Me: (my mind was saying other thing but my lips said:"WOW you haven't even seen my throat", so the Doc gaged me and said; "holy crap that dose not br long there"

Me" "Really i thought that tosil was normal!!"

Doc: "Nurse we need to get a cat scan, oh here as a pamphlet about what the surgery will consists. I want a better look at your sinuses first and see what the cat scan has to show. when we dod the surgery will take you the tonsil out too."

Me: "ok, hum, wow, I don't even know what to think!"

Doc: here I am going to give you medication to reduce the inflamed sinuses and antibiotic for the infection on your tonsil, well see you soon.

Me: "ok"

So got the cat scan and my sinuses were really bad and a few days with meds it never really cleared up. So July 9th is my big day going under the knife!!

(High pitch voice and Pop sickles here I come!!)
